Scientists told how without deodorant to get rid of a sweat smell


The solution containing zinc oxide particles was much more effective remedy for fight against a sweat smell. At the ECCMID 2019 conference in the Netherlands scientists told about means which fights against a sweat smell more effectively, than the most popular deodorants. It is about solution, comprising zinc oxide particles. Let's remind, human sweat does not possess an own smell. Unpleasant "aroma" arises thanks to activity of microbes which live on skin. Many modern deodorants kill microbes in armpits and other vulnerable parts of a body, however similar means considerably change microflora of skin and do it vulnerable for inflammations. The group of scientists actually accidentally created replacement for deodorants, experimenting with oxide of zinc (ZnO) which began to be considered as means for disinfection of open wounds and surgical seams. During experiences it was noticed that emulsion ZnO solution not only liquidated inflammations, but also destroyed all colonies of bacteria from the sorts Corynebacterium and Staphylococcus. These microbes as biologists note, produce large amounts of fatty acids which are considered as the main source of unpleasant aroma of sweat today. Having gathered group of three tens volunteers, scientists asked them not to use deodorants for three weeks. In seven days after refusal of antiperspirants, scientists invited volunteers in the laboratory, collected samples of sweat and microbes then processed their armpits two "new deodorants". In half of cases one of them was replaced with a baby's dummy what neither participants of experiences, nor experimenters knew about. Repeating this procedure each three days, scientists were interested at volunteers in how their armpits smell and what means they considered more effective. Experiences unexpectedly showed that zinc oxide solution very effectively coped with this task, destroying all colonies of Corynebacterium and Staphylococcus on skin of volunteers. Its force of action did not depend on a sex of participants of experiences, level of acidity of their skin and other its properties. Scientists plan to make more large-scale experiments in the nearest future. Earlier it was reported that misuse of aerosol deodorants can lead to problems with health.
