Scientists from Japan and Australia have found a way to put away space debris

The technological complexity of realization of this idea is that the stream of particles created by the engine will not only make impact on space debris, but also to push the satellite in the return from him the direction because of what this force needs to be compensated by the additional engine. However the group of scientists of Tohoku University has found a way to realize the concept with use of one engine which will influence at the same time an object of space debris and to stabilize the satellite situation. Scientists have created a prototype of the bidirectional plasma engine which has the camera with two open exits. In the camera two tubes for supply of argon and two antennas for his ionization, and outside — two solenoids are located. It is possible to operate draft in both directions by means of change of a configuration of magnetic field or level of supply of gas in each of tubes. Thanks to an opportunity to change a ratio between the plasma streams leaving from the different parties of the engine him it is possible to use in the modes acceleration and braking of the satellite and also removal of space debris from an orbit. We will remind that NASA has found the lost Opportunity mars rover. He managed to be found thanks to the picture made by the space station Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter.
