In 2030 the new cars registered in the European Union have to have 35% less carbon dioxide (CO2) in the emissions. The relevant decision was made by Council of the European Union at the level of ministers of the environment at a meeting in Luxembourg on Wednesday, October 10, Ukrinform tells. "In 2030 new cars will be thrown out for about 35% of less CO2, than it is provided by present standard limits of emissions", - Elisabeth Kestiger, the federal minister of sustainable development and tourism of Austria which presides in the EU Council now said. It is specified that the decision was supported by the qualified majority - 20 countries expressed pro, four countries were against, four more - refrained. In 2030 reduction of emissions of carbon dioxide has to make already 35% for automobile cars and 30% for trucks. 2021 has to become base for calculation of the new purposes: at that time the average standard of the contents of CO2 in emissions of cars has to be 95 g of carbon dioxide on 1 km (present level - 118,5 g of CO2 on 1 km). Besides, the ecological council of the EU agreed to accept the offer of European Commission on the stimulating mechanism for cars with the zero or reduced emissions as completely electrical or hybrid machines. The target indicator for such cars for 2030 is lifted up to 35% of all vehicle fleet of the EU. Earlier the European Parliament supported the decision to reduce maximum permissible norms of emissions of CO ₂ new cars by 40% till 2030 in comparison with 2020.
